Patagonia Pint Night
From Great Outdoor Store
What if running could save a rain forest? This was the question posed to those that attended our first Patagonia pint night this past September. I was amazed and pleased with the amount of people who came to the event--trail runners, beer enthusiasts, and supporters of Sioux Falls Women Run. We sold Patagonia Pints filled with beer from our DTSF neighbors Woodgrain which people enjoyed while watching the film Takayna.
Sioux Falls Women Run was a natural partner for this event. Their mission statement-to create a space for running excellence, community support and life balance-coincides with ours and we love the idea of a scholarship program that benefits for female runners in the area. This event raised $665--which will fully fund one scholarship and get the start for another.
Sioux Falls Women Run was originally established as a private Facebook group that gave women a space to connect and share with other female runners. I have been a member of this Facebook group from early on and it certainly lives up to its mission.
Events like this allow us to be more than a store--we are a part of a larger community of outdoor enthusiasts who share common goals. We will continue to foster the community through our group hikes, How to Travel talks, and Saturday clinics. During these events we get to listen to and tell our own stories from the trails. Our mission is to help our friends have fun and be comfortable in the outdoors. Getting you in the best gear for your adventure is just part of that story.
